Midway
SCORE: 74
I really enjoy watching historically
related movies. Midway is a fantastic history movie where we learn about
the moods, attitudes, and opinions of soldiers from World War II in the
Pacific Theater. Midway of course brings us to the battle of Midway. I
love it when the name of a movie actually relates to the event or events
within it. I am pretty literal about things like that so Midway fits my
perspective on reality.
I did a little research and Midway did a very good job with their
historical accuracy. There are a few things here and there that were not
completely accurate. That is to be expected from Holly Weird. Overall
Midway is very historically accurate. I appreciate that because it sucks
watching a movie and later finding out it is not as accurate as what
really happened. This was a very important time in history as well.
The politics and viewpoint of the Japanese are slightly shown in Midway.
It is interesting that politics are a major part of what happened in the
military for both countries. The United States threw that aside to make
sure the right people were doing the right jobs. Many of them suffered
for it too. That is if they happened to survive. Bombing those carriers
surrounded by other ships would be difficult.
The issues families can have with Midway are bad language, violence,
death, gore, blood, and more. Revenge is a theme shown quite well in
Midway. Many of the American soldiers want to get back at the Japanese
for the sneak attack at Pearl Harbor. The cruelty of the Japanese
military is shown in Midway as well. Murdering a prisoner of war is
shown as well as the atrocities committed on the Chinese people.
Heroism is a big theme in Midway. These men do their jobs when they are
tired. These men do their jobs when they are hurting. These men fought
so we could all have freedom. As a disabled war veteran I completely
respect what they did. I completely understand how long the pain and
suffering goes on after serving in the military. Honor, sacrifice, and
duty mean something to me, and the men who fought in WWII.
