Moana
SCORE: 67
I am very thankful I had enough money to
purchase Moana on Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Code. I knew this
controversial Disney animated movie was generally about this young lady
saving the day thanks to the assistance of a demi-god. Moana is steeped
deep in Islander myth, lore, and religious beliefs. We are taught their
creation story and how this film relates to it. Dwayne Johnson does a
decent job voice acting Maui.
Disney has been under fire for their discrimination against Christians
and doing everything possible to spread other religious beliefs through
their movie indoctrination programs. It would be irresponsible of me to
review this product without stating those well known and well documented
historical facts. I find it sad Disney has taken such a radical and far
leftist position. I am not surprised because of company policy changes
they made in recent decades. Slippery slope certainly applies here.
Moana’s tribe lives in fear on an island where they cannot sail past the
reef. Moana wants to go sailing past that reef since she was a little
one. The ocean picks her to go and save Maui. There are a couple of
semi-interesting songs in Moana. Many of them fall flat for me. Sort of
like a lot of the characters in Moana. The boring strong woman and weak
man dynamic has been so over used by Holly Weird that it is so last
decade.
False gods and goddesses are in Moana. There is also a demon that stops
everyone from getting to this island. We get a few brief moments of
crude humor, and interaction with spirits. Magic plays a big role in
Moana. There are transformations from human to animals in Moana. We get
plenty of lack of attire in Moana. Many of the characters get all wet in
Moana over and over again.
These remote islands in Moana have a pig and a chicken. They are mainly
used for comic relief, especially the chicken. The arrogance of your
welcome is used in Moana right after Maui is saved. It certainly makes
that male character look bad. Moana could be listed as part of the war
on men. There are numerous bonus features all about this movie and its
odd fantasy world. I found little in Moana to relate to.
