Onward
SCORE: 66
Onward is set in a fantasy world where
magic is almost gone. Magic was hard to perform so people came up with
technology. No need for magic to give you fire when a light switch could
be turned on instead. Ian and Barley Lightfoot are born into this world.
They go on a quest when they get a magical staff, spell, and Phoenix Gem
to bring their dad back to life for one day.
I had been warned that Onward contained extremely controversial and
highly divisive content. I don’t even know why Disney and Pixar are
shoving their celebration of rebellion against God in their movies.
Probably why Disney stopped sending us products. We point out facts, and
are not all in to make them even wealthier. We are not part of the
corrupt bought off fanatical zealot radicalized media. I have no problem
purchasing products like Onward during Black Friday sales. I am very
thankful for the hundreds of thousands of families that only support
products that are good for families.
Magic is the central theme in Onward. The older son Barley is obsessed
with magic, quest, and how things used to be. Ian is very shy and not
very confident at all. Barley is also shown as a screw up, and partially
to blame for only half of their father coming back to life for most of
the movie. Both sons grow in this movie.
There are plenty of law breaking moments within Onward. Disobedience is
a major reaction to authority in Onward. Plenty of peril and some
violent content found within Onward. The mental illness of sexual
deviancy is presented as normal behavior in Onward. The swerve at the
end of Onward was predictable but also very disappointing in most
regards.
