Playing with Fire

It took Dwayne Johnson multiple movies to finally make me believe he could do a role. That movie for him was Jumanji. John Cena has already been making me believe him in a variety of different roles much earlier in his acting career. Playing with Fire is a great example. This family friendly comedy makes me believe he is a supervisor of smoke jumpers. He is a smoke jumper himself.

The issues families can have with Playing with Fire is lack of attire, enticement to lust, rude humor, dangerous situations, comedy pain, and more. There was one extremely rude and hateful comment by a wife right in front of her husband. That kind of war on men garbage is why so many people won't watch movies anymore. If men make those kinds of comments about women they are being sexist. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Playing with Fire is sexist against men.

The story in Playing with Fire is about this smoke jumper fire department house and how they save three kids. These three kids lie to the smoke jumpers about their parents. At first they only need to keep them for one night. That stretches out and they wind up keeping them much longer thanks to the safe haven law. The kids are light chastized for lying to the smoke jumpers.

At the same time smoke jumper Jake Carson (John Cena) is putting in for a promotion because of the good work he does as a smoke jumping firefighter. Playing with Fire contains plenty of humor as the kids trash the station in a plethora of ways. Dealing with a dirty diaper is one of the most humorous scenes in Playing with Fire. The acting done there is fantastic. There is plenty of tongue in cheek humor in Playing with Fire.

Romance blossoms in Playing with Fire at the same time. Jake learns to let his guard down and let others in. Playing with Fire deals with kids in the foster care system, fires in California, smoke jumpers being heroes, protecting what is really important, the value of family and more. I enjoyed my ninety-five minutes with Playing with Fire on DVD. I am glad I had the money to purchase this movie.
