Snake Eyes G.I. Joe Origins
SCORE: 50
Snake Eyes G.I. Joe Origins is one of the
biggest disappointments in 2021. I knew there was all kinds of
controversy surrounding this movie after the massive mistakes related to
casting. Snake Eyes is a white guy from the military that got badly
burned and his vocal cords were messed up. He is a gaijin that gets
trained by the Arashikage ninja clan. He trains beside Storm Shadow.
When it is assumed Storm Shadow killed their master Snake Eyes hunted
him down.
This series of events as well as jealousy Storm Shadow had for how much
better Snake Eyes was is why Storm Shadow joined Cobra. All of this is
very important to understand because it is the cannon origins of Snake
Eyes and Storm Shadow. Snake Eyes G.I. Joe Origins throws that out the
window and does a role reversal. Snake Eyes is the son of a Joe who
infiltrated Cobra and gets murdered by a Cobra agent. Snake Eyes seeks
revenge and is under cover in the Araskikage ninja clan to steal a stone
that gives Cobra the power of the sun.
The issues families will have with Snake Eyes G.I. Joe Origins are
violence, bad language, racism, blood, fake goddess, and more. The
casting choices in Snake Eyes G.I. Joe Origins make zero sense to me.
The same goes for the motives of so many characters in Snake Eyes G.I.
Joe Origins. Storm Shadow has no reason to leave the clan in Snake Eyes
G.I. Joe Origins. He also has no reason to hate Snake Eyes. Why was the
race of Snake Eyes changed?
The grandmother who is over the clan makes zero sense in this fantasy
movie world as well. It was a male in the comics. If someone were trying
to destroy the G.I. Joe live action movies they would make something
just like Snake Eyes G.I. Joe Origins. It is like that Fantastic Four
movie that had Johnny a bit too crispy. Why can't Holly Weird stay true
to the source material instead of constantly trying to redefine it?
There are plenty of ninja battles in Snake Eyes G.I. Joe Origins. Why do
all of the Yakuza have ninja swords? They wind up fodder for Snake Eyes
and Storm Shadow. How does the main bad guy not know there are three
giant anacondas down there? He got through that trial at one point in
the past. I had mediocre hopes for Snake Eyes G.I. Joe Origins and it
could not even get up to that point.
