Super Destronaut DX-2

I am thankful Family Friendly Gaming was given a digital download code for Super Destronaut DX-2 on the Nintendo Switch. This retro shooter sequel that will remind you of Space Invaders did not change much. One key thing they did change is which direction the enemies come from. Enemies in Super Destronaut DX-2 will come from the top, bottom, right and left. There are arrow indicators to let you know where they will be entering the screen from.

I noticed a major need in Super Destronaut DX-2. Since we can move our ship all over the screen and the enemies can come from any direction we really need to be able to shoot in all four or even eight directions. Going to the top of the screen and only being able to shoot straight up feels wrong. I know there are plenty of shooters that allow players to shoot in all directions.

The modes in Super Destronaut DX-2 are Challenge and Arcade. Under arcade we can play Classic, Time Attack, Time Rush, Bullet mode, and Hardcode Mode. There are thirty challenges in Super Destronaut DX-2 that family members can complete. Super Destronaut DX-2 does contains some bright and colorful graphics as we blow away all of these aliens. The violence is the biggest issue families will have with Super Destronaut DX-2. This game clocks in at one hundred and thirty-nine megs on the Nintendo Switch.

Super Destronaut DX-2 can be found on multiple other video game systems. The bright retro graphics are neat to look at. Enemies take multiple hits to take down. This got visually confusing for me because I could not see the enemies shots that were coming my direction. I took hits in Super Destronaut DX-2 more times because of all of the visual noise going on with blowing up aliens.

The music in Super Destronaut DX-2 is fun to listen to. I enjoyed jamming to it while shooting as many aliens as I could. Players can take three hits and then it is game over. I found Super Destronaut DX-2 to be extremely challenging. If you like retro looking video games that are challenging then Super Destronaut DX-2 might be for you. Casual gamers should pass on Super Destronaut DX-2.
