Batman Beyond Neo Year #1
SCORE: 73
As we have been exploring comic books at our local comic book stores
I noticed quite a few reboots, and other comic books start at the first
issue. I have not been in the comic book industry in some time. I do
remember that number one issues always have the potential to be worth
some money down the line in the future. So I have been paying attention
to these number ones. Batman Beyond Neo Year #1 is one of those I found.
I remember the animated show and Batman Beyond was pretty interesting
decades ago.
I did honestly not expect much from Batman Beyond Neo Year #1. I have
been trying a plethora of different thirteen and older comic books only
to be disappointed. Batman Beyond Neo Year #1 actually was much cleaner
than I expected it to be. There is also quite a bit of story and text to
read which is something I find very cool. Bruce Wayne is dead and the
Holographic Man is now in charge of Wayne-Powers. Terry McGinnis is an
adult and doing a good job as Batman.
Terry McGinnis realizes that the best way to keep things safe is to use
paper. A lot of the text is Terry writing to Bruce even though Bruce is
now dead. Batman Beyond Neo Year #1 shows that the torch has been
completely passed along. Terry is using the lessons Bruce Wayne taught
him. Barbara Gordon is retiring as the commissioner in Neo Gotham City.
The crime has been flat lately. What Barbara does not know is Terry is
out there stopping crimes.
There are twenty-one pages of art within Batman Beyond Neo Year #1. The
first page also contains all of the people behind the comic book but I
am counting it. Then there are five pages devoted to Flashpoint Beyond
#0. There are advertisements here and there within Batman Beyond Neo
Year #1. More toward the beginning and end. There is some violent
content within Batman Beyond Neo Year #1. Terry plants a listening
device on Holographic Man to find out what crimes he plans on
committing.
Batman Beyond Neo Year #1 introduces a new character with a large sword.
We are not given a name in Batman Beyond Neo Year #1. So it will be
interesting to find out who this is. Batman Beyond Neo Year #1 feels
very retrospective for a futuristic world. I actually enjoyed Batman
Beyond Neo Year #1 way more than I thought I would. This is an
interesting world that has caught my interest. I am curious to see what
Terry will do going forward.
