Boogerman

I am very thankful I had the money to purchase the Interplay Collection 1 on the Evercade systems. Boogerman is one of the six games on that compilation cartridge. I remember Boogerman from back in the day and not fondly. The name of this game is exactly what you should expect this game to be. There is plenty of gross humor. Boogerman probably paved the way for even worse games like Conker’s Bad Fur Day. Which took the concepts of Boogerman and made them even worse.

There is plenty of potty humor within Boogerman. I actually mean that literally. We go down toilets, flick boogers and more in this 2D side scrolling action adventure video game. There are also all kinds of gross looking enemies and areas to look at. I had trouble discerning in Boogerman what is part of the background and what would interact with me. I took plenty of hits because of this.

As far as the level design goes Boogerman is pretty uninspired. We can work our way up through trees, or stay on the ground. There are some toxic waste looking areas near the bottom of Boogerman levels too. I found it was better to climb higher in case a mistake was made. Then I might be able to survive it. There are also secrets hidden in different areas of the levels within Boogerman.

The sounds in Boogerman go along with the visuals. Expect to hear crude humor and gross sounds while playing Boogerman. If you are looking at video games that have given the industry a bad image then look no further than Boogerman. I know there are plenty of other video games that hurt the image of the entire industry. Boogerman is right up there with them especially from the 16-bit era.

I like all of the different animations that happen in the levels within Boogerman. Green is a real major color used in this game. There is a definite challenge that will interest hardcode gamers. Boogerman is not the kind of a video game that families will be into in my opinion. The same thing goes for casual gamers.
