Greenland

Ever so often I am interested in watching some disaster movie. Greenland fit into that mold and the previews looked interesting. This man is trying to save his family while a comet comes crashing into Earth. The experience of the movie is so different from those previews. I am confused by so many things that were within the two hours of Greenland. I will try to get into those things in this review in just a bit.

The premise within Greenland is that the government decides to save certain people and their families based on their professions and skillsets. John Garrity is a building designer. His wife Allison is estranged from him. They have a son Nathan who is a diabetic. There are way too many predictable moments within Greenland. Like when the son drops his insulin in the vehicle. The father has to go back for it and that separates the family.

When the soldiers find out Nathan is diabetic they refuse to allow him to board the plane. The mother refuses to go without him. SPOILER ALERT! Yet near the end of the movie the family gets right into the bunker with no one checking for wrist bands or even asking about who they are. The hubands calls and text will not go through. When the wife checks her phone her texts did go through.

Greenland is way more about the journey than the destination. The father is separated from his family most of the movie. We do find out that he cheated on his wife. Thankfully they are working out the marriage and getting back together. The parents sacrifice for their child quite often within Greenland. People are shown to be very selfish and hateful within Greenland.

The issues families will have with Greenland are violence, blood, murder, death, destruction, kidnapping, fight to the death, cruge humor, bad language, and more. Anyone with the wrist band is seen as a means to survival for those that do not have one. SPOILER ALERT! The family finds out about flights leaving Canada to the bunker in Greenland. They have to become a real pain to get on the last plane.
