Island Farmer
SCORE: 80
Family Friendly Gaming was given a digital
download code to Island Farmer on the Nintendo Switch. This downloadable
only 3D jigsaw puzzle video game is also on the Personal Computer (PC)
on the Steam platform. Island Farmer is just over six hundred megs in
terms of memory size. There is no tutorial in Island Farmer whatsoever.
I was able to figure this game out by just pressing different buttons.
The goal of Island Farmer is to get the island looking like it needs to.
I found that by pressing the B button I would see a preview of what the
island should look like. Then it was up to me to swap the 3D tiles to
get the island in that exact configuration. We can pick any 3D block and
swap with any other 3D block. Once the block is in the right place it
starts to glow golden.
The downside to Island Farmer is there are only twenty islands to solve.
Island Farmer is selling for under three dollars on the Nintendo Switch
so that offsets it a little bit. I wish there had been more fleshed out
within Island Farmer. A tutorial level explaining what to do as well as
additional levels. It would be neat to see different themes to the
islands. Maybe a section for each season for example.
Island Farmer lets family members take their time with Island Farmer.
There is no time limit. You can take your time. It would have been neat
to see a timer for players to see if they could beat their previous
time. No pressure just for those speed runner types that like to show
off how quickly they can do something. Here I go again - giving video
game developers wonderful ideas that consultants get paid big money to
provide.
We can rotate the levels, zoom in, zoom out, and enjoy the fish swimming
around. There are also some animations after the island has been
completed. Island Farmer looks decent graphically and there is some nice
music that helps the player chill and relax. My biggest problem with
Island Farmer was moving the cursor around the island due to certain
shapes. Say there is a U formation on the island. I would want to go
from the top of left side of the U to the top of the right side. I had
to work my way all the way around to do it. I could not go straight
across over the water. That got a bit annoying.
