Joe & Mac 2
SCORE: 68
I am very thankful I had the money to purchase the Data East
Collection 1. One of the games on that cartridge that plays on the
Evercade systems is Joe & Mac 2. I am a bit perplexed why we did not get
the first Joe & Mac video game. We are a cave man in Joe & Mac 2. The
great crown of your village has been stolen by Gork. This bad cave man
must be stopped. The player must go and retrieve the crown from this
horrible, vile and wicked thief.
Graphically Joe & Mac 2 looks decent for a 16-bit video game. I enjoyed
some of the stages that went up and down. Climbing is fun in Joe & Mac 2
as well. We get some nice visual treats like walking in a river. Joe &
Mac 2 is a 2D side scrolling action adventure platformer. Expect to be
challenged in Joe & Mac 2. I noticed the difficulty can be a pain at
times. I learned to expect enemy attacks from all angles in Joe & Mac 2.
Just because you cleared out an area does not mean they will come at you
from behind once you pass it.
I did have some frustrating with the jumping within Joe & Mac 2. Trying
to get on the back of that giant snake was a major pain. Especially when
it went in and out of holes on the screen. I finally figured out the
timing to get to the next platform. We have a video of my game play of
Joe & Mac 2 on the Family Friendly Gaming website within the videos
section. You can check it out there.
There is violent content within Joe & Mac 2. We use a variety of weapons
to dispose of the animals and fellow humans that get in our way. They
will come at you from behind as well. This made levels take longer than
they needed to in my personal and professional opinion. The cave people
do not wear a lot of clothing in Joe & Mac 2. If lack of attire bothers
you then know you will find it within Joe & Mac 2.
Joe & Mac 2 is a challenging 2D side scrolling platformer that games can
enjoy from the 16-bit era. I found myself a bit exasperated with how
many enemies show up within Joe & Mac 2. I learned to take it slow while
playing Joe & Mac 2. I also learned that stealing is wrong and bad. You
do not have a right to anyone else’s property. The dialogue in Joe & Mac
2 is a bit campy but you might find that funny.
