MLB The Show 21

I don't know how I forgot to review MLB The Show 21 on the Playstation 4. I was working on the review for MLB The Show 22 and realized I had never reviewed MLB The Show 21. So I went back to my notes and video gameplay for MLB The Show 21 and decided to start working on a review ASAP. I am starting to realize that this franchise is looking and sounding the same year after year. There are a few tweaks here and there but a lot is similar.

MLB The Show 21 is the first year that this franchise moved over to other systems like the Xbox One and Xbox Series X. This is really cool to see too. For some reason I played MLB The Show 21 way less than I did many of the previous video games in this franchise. I did not enjoy MLB The Show 21 as much as many of the predecessors. In past years I went back to play game after game in seasons.

I really like the commentary in MLB The Show 21. It helps the game feel like a baseball video game. I am a bit baffled by the controls in MLB The Show 21. I had the lower difficulty setting picked and got a whole lot less home runs than I did in previous MLB The Show video games. I used to crank those home runs and win by massive scores. MLB The Show 21 is much more difficult even on the lower settings.

MLB The Show 21 looks good. Thing is the franchise has looked so good for so long that it is not showing much improvement. I love seeing the stances and swings of the different players in MLB The Show 21. I did some research and found they are generally very realistic. I did not check every single player in the game to determine MLB The Show 21 was at the 100% realism.

The pitching viewpoint in the one player mode in MLB The Show 21 looks fantastic. I love seeing the camera from right behind the pitcher. Fans of the Home Run Derby will be not be disappointed with MLB The Show 21. That modes is included. The main modes in MLB The Show 21 are Road to the Show, Diamond Dynasty, March to October and Franchise. Retro Mode is also available for those into that experience.
