Mekabolt+

I am very thankful Family Friendly Gaming was given a digital download code for Mekabolt+ on the Xbox Series X. This exact version of Mekabolt+ can be found on the PS5 and Xbox One. Mekabolt+ is a retro 2D side scrolling action adventure puzzle video game. We must find the battery at the end of the level to help out the robots. The robots will go crazy without their batteries. I guess these robots were not equipped with solar panels to be more self sustainable.

Mekabolt+ has retro graphics and retro music. I actually enjoyed the tunes in Mekabolt+. I was not as impressed with the graphics especially with the violent content. We shoot a variety of robots in Mekabolt+. The shooting stuns them. Or the shooting will cause the robot to do something we need. Like shoot out spears that will embed into walls. We can then use those spears to access higher locations. I loved the robots we shot and turned around. Those robots would fire some combustible orbs that were great at removing green tiles from our way.

There are one hundred levels within Mekabolt+. They get progressively more difficult. Each of the four worlds in Mekabolt+ have a theme. For example Jungle and Desert. The backgrounds of the levels fit the theme of the world. There are even certain blocks that could fit the theme. For example blocks that go away start in the desert world. I learned to pay attention the floors in Mekabolt+ because there could be traps like spikes. Mekabolt+ contains a plathora of traps. We can stun the robots, jump on them, push them around and more. We cannot run into them when they are not stunned.

The different worlds in Mekabolt+ require so many batteries to unlock. The biggest issue I had while playing Mekabolt+ was jumping over little level differences. Say the block I want to jump on is just higher than the one I am on. I had more issues jumping over that than anything else in Mekabolt+. I actually enjoyed playing Mekabolt+. I play so many games, and so many retro styled games that at times they bore me. Mekabolt+ was actually interesting and fun.

I would love for Mekabolt+ to make it to the physical copy format at some point. I know I have played similar games in the past. Even then I enjoyed playing Mekabolt+. I hope to see more games like Mekabolt+ in the future. A graphical upgrade would be fantastic in my personal and professional opinion. The best part about Mekabolt+ is learning how to progress through the levels. Some concepts are easy to pick up and a few required a bit more thought. I also learned to test things by trial and error. You know the real and true scientific method.
