Minions The Rise of Gru

Did you catch the short video we did of the Swag box unboxing of Minions The Rise of Gru? If you missed it then please click here to get caught up. The Blu-ray + DVD + Digital version of Minions The Rise of Gru was included in that swag box. We are extremely thankful we were sent that swag box and this movie. Noah and I watched Minions The Rise of Gru recently and we laughed and laughed. Please note there will be spoilers in this review.

It is so nice to see family friendly movies continue to thrive and do well. Minions The Rise of Gru brings us to a twelve year old Gru who is having the Minions build his first evil lair. He is also trying to get onto the team of the Vicious 6. The founding member of the Vicious 6 Wild Knuckles is presumed dead. His own team got rid of him when he got a magical amulet with mystical powers. The Vicious 6 reject Gru because of his age. He is told to do something to get their attention. So Gru steals that magical amulet from them.

The issues families can have with Minions The Rise of Gru are violence, insults, disrespecting elders/parents, crude humor, theft, magic and more. The Minions really mess up multiple times in Minions The Rise of Gru. They also go to great lengths to fix their mistakes. Expect to hear plenty of music from the 1970s in Minions The Rise of Gru. I hope the next movie brings us into the 1980s with Gru and the Minions. That would be really cool.

It takes an hour and twenty-eight minutes to watch Minions The Rise of Gru. There are also two hilarious mini-movies included on the discs as well. The bonus content within Minions The Rise of Gru will take over one hour to watch. Minions The Rise of Gru is one of those movies that families will watch multiple times though. I got quite a few laughs out of Minions The Rise of Gru. So did Noah.

Three of the Minions learn Kung Fu in Chinatown in San Francisco. Their training has plenty of humorous moments within it. Gru steals the Mona Lisa at one point in Minions The Rise of Gru. He winds up working with his hero Wild Knuckles. Sadly Gru's mom is not much of a mother to him in Minions The Rise of Gru. Maybe that is why his values are so backwards in so many ways. Gru winds up doing good in the end of Minions The Rise of Gru.
