Monomals

I hope you were able to catch the sponsored live stream I did of Monomals. This Nintendo Switch downloadable video game impressed me so much I decided to get a review going. The developer and publisher are not aware. At least until this review is released. Monomals is bright and colorful. The goal in Monomals is to go and collect all of these different musical creatures. We go through a level, and then we have some objectives to complete in a boss room. It can be things like collect all of some coins, or hit a buzzer, or take out all of the enemies, etc. Then we must catch the Monomal.

The action adventure platformer levels with our lure is not all there is to Monomals either. We take the Monomals and make songs with them. Monomals contains a decent musical composition section as well. Families can make their own music in Monomals thanks to the different sounds the musical creatures make. The whole reason to fish for these Monomals is to use them in the musical composition section of this video game. That is pretty cool.

The musical aspect is where Monomals really shines. There are some jamming tunes in this fun little video game with all kinds of character. Monomals includes a funny DJ with some great fishermen characters. Monomals is one of those hidden gems families can really embrace. The violent content is really light in Monomals. We have certain creatures that will attack us. We must spin at them to make them vanish. We can also take hits from things like spikes in Monomals. The players lure can only take so many hits before they need to lose some coins and go back to the last continuation point.

Monomals starts easy and gets progressively more difficult as players work their way through the game. There are plenty of hidden areas and items for players to collect. The line we are attached to goes away after so long. That way we do not get tangled up and stuck anywhere. I actually prefer that over games like Unravel. Monomals gives us much more freedom which is something I personally appreciate.

If you participated in the live stream or watched it as a VOD later then you know I was really getting into Monomals. This is a fun game with a great theme, and some really cool features. Families can have a blast playing Monomals on the Nintendo Switch. I hope there are more games in this franchise in the future. I also hope Monomals gets a physical copy release soon.
