Pac-Attack
SCORE: 87
Another game on the Namco Museum Collection 2 cartridge is
Pac-Attack.
I knew of this video game from the 16-bit era. Pac-Attack is a fun
puzzle video game that families can enjoy. The best way to think of
Pac-Attack is think of Tetris with ghosts and Pac-Man. The blocks that
come down are a mixture of tiles, ghost, and/or Pac-Man. Pac-Man will
got a certain direction and eat the ghosts to make them go away. Tiles
that fill an entire line make all of the tiles go away.
Rotating the blocks in Pac-Attack can require some additional strategy.
We need to make sure we do not trap ghosts with blocks all around them.
That can be a real pain to deal with. I also had to learn the pattern
Pac-Man went into. He would generally go straight down and then to the
right. The more I learned Pac-Attack the more I learned how to position
blocks, ghosts, and Pac-Man.
The fairies are my favorite feature within Pac-Attack. They make all of
the ghosts below them completely vanish. Then the blocks will fill the
holes. Which can lead to some nice points from earning lines. I had a
lot of fun playing Pac-Attack on the Evercade. I am very thankful this
game was included on that cartridge. One or two family members can enjoy
Pac-Attack at the same time.
I really like the look and feel to Pac-Attack. The background graphics
remind me of really cool 80s artwork. The ghosts will turn blue and
flash when Pac-Man appears on the screen. Pac-Attack is a really clever
puzzle game that properly incorporates the franchise it is connected to.
I really hope there are sequels to Pac-Attack in the near future.
I enjoyed the music and special effect sounds while I played Pac-Attack.
The strategy in Pac-Attack is very thought provoking. I had to pay
attention to which direction Pac-Man was facing. It is great that two
family members can enjoy Pac-Attack at the same time. Pac-Attack is
definitely worth the price of admissions. It is so great to see puzzle
games like Pac-Attack release on a current video game system.
