Quad Challenge

I am very thankful I had the money to purchase the Namco Museum Collection 1 on the Evercade system. Quad Challenge is just another reason I am thankful for that cartridge. I did not remember Quad Challenge from the 16-bit Genesis days. I appreciate the Evercade system bringing attention to this game. Quad Challenge may not be the best racing video game for that system. It did give a nod to older racing video games.

The nod Quad Challenge gives to older racing video games is the concept of two racers being on the screen at the same time. Quad Challenge is really designed for two players. Since I played Quad Challenge on the Evercade hand held device it was really a one player experience against the computer. The computer is merciless and flawless in Quad Challenge. Maybe I missed an option to make the game easier.

Graphically Quad Challenge did not really impress me. There are even a couple of young ladies not wearing a lot on one of the menu screens in Quad Challenge. Why was that needed? It really did nothing to enhance the game or the experience. I find it funny the woke supremacists freak out over the objectification of women, yet they give video games a pass all the time because its art. If you actually care about the issue then you should go after the industries that are actually objectifying women. I will get off my soap box now.

The racing sounds and music fit the theme of Quad Challenge. I enjoyed listening to them while trying to navigate around the tracks. Be very careful racing in Quad Challenge. If you go off the track you will spin out. Even if you do not hit anything. It takes forever to get up to speed again in Quad Challenge. One mistake and the computer beat me. Which really led to little fun for me.

The hills in Quad Challenge led to some nice air. There is something really neat about taking an ATV vehicle into the air. Quad Challenge reminds me of old racers with the time extended concept. We need to make it to certain checkpoints to keep racing. The lesson I learned from Quad Challenge is to be absolutely perfect every single time I race. One mistake leads to a loss.
