Spacey McRacey
SCORE: 70
I am so thankful I had the money to purchase an Evercade VS video
game home console. Spacey McRacey is one of those free video games that
is unlocked by pressing certain buttons. The way to play Spacey McRacey
is to hold L1, R1, and Down at the game select screen with no cartridge
inserted. Spacey McRacey comes up and four family members can enjoy this
game at the same time. Peter and I played Spacey McRacey during our
Secret Evercade video games live stream. The video portion of Spacey
McRacey has been separated out and is available to watch in the video
section of the Family Friendly Gaming website.
You will need at least two players to enjoy Spacey McRacey. We fly these
little objects through the holes in these walls. We also can shoot one
another. Some of the buttons on the screen do not match what is on the
Evercade. Spacey McRacey was obviously designed for the 8-bit NES and
the mapping was not done in a way to match. This is a minor issue we
were able to figure out and get past when we were live streaming Spacey
McRacey. I know Spacey McRacey is a completely free game for us, I still
wish a bit more care had been put into button mapping.
The music within Spacey McRacey is fun to listen to. The special effect
sounds fit the theme of the game as well. Graphically Spacey McRacey
looks really retro. The gameplay can also be very repetitive. We did not
always understand why one player or the other would die when we were by
one another shooting. Shoot another player and they will explode and
then come back at the bottom of the screen. The same happens if you
crash into one of the walls in Spacey McRacey. Expect to run into a lot
of walls in Spacey McRacey.
The point in Spacey McRacey is to be the first player to get to one
hundred points. If you are near the top of the screen in Spacey McRacey
you will score more points. It does leave you open to being shot by the
other player and not being able to avoid the walls as they change. There
is a definite risk versus reward system within Spacey McRacey. I can see
how families could have a good time with more than two players. I could
see a lot of chaos if there are four family members playing Spacey
McRacey at the same time.
The sole reason I found out about and was able to play this game is the
Evercade VS. This little retro system with physical copy compilation
cartridges has been an amazing find. I recommend so few things. The
Evercade VS is one of those systems that I definitely recommend to
families. The cost of the system and the cartridges are much lower than
current modern video games. The free games like Spacey McRacey are just
another example of how Blaze Entertainment is looking out for families.
I enjoyed my time with Spacey McRacey. I think you might too.
