Star Wars The Mandalorian #1
SCORE: 72
I was very excited when I saw the Star Wars The Mandalorian #1 comic
book at one of our local comic book stores. I was not aware of one very
important fact concerning Star Wars The Mandalorian #1. Can you guess
what I discovered after reading Star Wars The Mandalorian #1? I found
out that this is just a comic book adaptation of the television show. At
least the first issue is just the first episode of the television show.
I was honestly expecting to read a completely different story based on
the character. There will be spoilers in this review.
Star Wars The Mandalorian #1 has decent art that tries to emulate the
real world. At times it does a great job of it. Other times Star Wars
The Mandalorian #1 does not do so great. I love the close ups on the
helmet in particular. Those look great. Some of the characters to not
look like they did on the television show. I guess it must be hard to
draw things that look like real life in a comic books. Star Wars The
Mandalorian #1 is not the first comic book I noticed this in. I also saw
this in the All New Firefly comic books.
I have a few more comic books in the Star Wars The Mandalorian series. I
will read and review those but I think I will stop reading this comic
book series after that. I already watched the television show. There is
no need to pay for the same content in the comic book format. There are
plenty of other comic books I could read instead. This is the biggest
bummer for me concerning Star Wars The Mandalorian #1. If we were a bit
more agile I would have known this before purchasing other issues in
this series.
The main issue within Star Wars The Mandalorian #1 is violence.
Thankfully Star Wars The Mandalorian #1 is very kind to families in this
regard. The violence in this comic book is not as bad as it could have
been. There are thirty pages of content within Star Wars The Mandalorian
#1. The ads are sparsed throughout the comic book. We even get to see
Baby Yoda at the end of Star Wars The Mandalorian #1. Which is what took
off after Star Wars The Mandalorian was released on Disney+.
The thirteen and older rating for Star Wars The Mandalorian #1 seems a
bit high to me. I take into account the television show was rated TV-PG.
The content that would bother families is very light within Star Wars
The Mandalorian #1 too. I know there can be more violence later in this
show. I wonder if Star Wars The Mandalorian going forward will include
Gina Carano's character. If she is included I may need to reconsider my
decision to stop reading this comic book after reading what was already
purchased.
