The Croods A New Age
SCORE: 79
I am very thankful I had the money to
purchase The Croods A New Age on DVD. Normally sequels are not as good
as their originals. In the Croods case the opposite is true. I like The
Croods A New Age way more than The Croods. The pack is watching teenage
romance blossom and grow. Eep and Guy are the couple making plans for
their future. We also learn that Guy is trying to follow the light to
tomorrow. That was the last instructions his parents gave him before
they died in a tarpit.
Grug is not too keen on Eep and Guy leaving the pack and starting their
own. Things get more complicated in The Croods A New Age when the pack
finds a beautiful garden full of food. The Betterman family lives there.
They also have a teenage daughter and they want Guy to stay and the rest
of the pack to leave. The Betterman family has one rule - do not eat the
bananas.
The issues families can have with The Croods A New Age are peril,
cartoon violence, crude humor, and insults. The two families live
different lives. The nomadic pack is used to staying close for survival.
The Betterman family is behind walls and safe. The Betterman family is
well fed. The pack realizes the benefits of this kind of a lifestyle.
There are things like showers they are not big on.
The core of The Croods A New Age is fathers letting go of their
daughters when they get married and start a life with a new man. Plenty
of fathers have trouble letting go. They want to continue to control
their daughters. They are not used to their daughters being submissive
to another man. The Croods A New Age also touches on family interfering
with the love lives of their children. Although in Dawn Betterman's case
she does not have many prospects.
I had multiple laugh out loud moments within The Croods A New Age. The
next daughter does step up for the father so that is neat to see. Thunk
and Dawn could become a couple if Thunk can stop looking out the window.
The Croods A New Age also attacks humans for changing the land in a way
that fits them better. The Betterman family diverted water which caused
punch monkeys some trouble. It all relates to the one banana rule.
