The King's Man

I am very thankful Family Friendly Gaming was given a retail Blu-ray + Digital Code version of The King's Man. This is my first exposure to this franchise. I had heard of the other movies. I just had never watched any of them before. The King's Man is the origin of the franchise and the intelligence agency from the other movies. We learn a variety of things about the origins of this organization.

The King's Man is set in the time period of World War I. The King's Man is a piece of fantasy and fiction. There are historical moments referenced in The King's Man. There are also plenty of historical innaccuracies within The King's Man. This is something sadly that Holly Weird is known for. The most glaring historical mistake in The King's Man revolves around Rasputin. Which is a shame because he was a very interesting character historically.

The issues families can have with The King's Man are blood, violence, gore, lack of attire, enticement to lust, sexual comments, bad language, promotion of sexual deviancy, and more. There are some shocking moments within The King's Man that I was not expecting. The trench warfare was especially brutal in The King's Man. I wonder how many men were actually killed by friendly fire in World War I.

I doubt there is a real and genuine way to show war that does not go into the R rating of a film. I do think there was content that could have been toned down within The King's Man. The decapitation of a man is a great example. The bad language could have also been toned down. The Shepherd character was being brutal physically in The King's Man. There was no need for that character to use the F word so many times. He kills a goat, and chops off the horn of another goat. We get it, he is bad. There was no need for him to show an addiction to profanity.

There are plenty of bonuses on the The King's Man disc to watch. We are treated to a six part making of documentary, remembrance and purpose, No Man's Land, and more. It took me 131 minutes to watch The King's Man from the start to the finish. There is even a very interesting scene within the credits. Although there maybe an issue with the mustache.

There is plenty of action and humor within The King's Man. The whole parachute conversation was absolutely hilarious. The Lord in The King's Man denounces his ancestors and what they accomplished for him. I do not know if they were really scroundrels or not. At some point I may need to check out the other movies in this franchise to see where it went.
