The Nutcracker and the Four Realms

I am very thankful my hubby had the money to purchase a copy of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms on DVD. This is one of the Black Friday purchases that he found. Neither of us had a clue what the The Nutcracker and the Four Realms was about. We both thought it might have something to do with the Nutcracker. That was the extent to the knowledge we had concerning The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. Paul picked The Nutcracker and the Four Realms for one of our movie nights.

The story of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is very interesting indeed. It is about a young family that has lost the mother figure. From what I gathered she wound up dead. Clara the youngest daughter goes on a Chronicles of Narnia adventure after receiving the Christmas gift from her mother. She finds this mysterious land of four realms. Clara also discovers that her mother was the queen of the four realms. That instantly makes her the princess.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms deals with grief and moving on after a loved one has died. SPOILER ALERT! Clara learns that lesson by the end of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. She decides she does not want to miss one minute with those that are left alive. She moves into the acceptance stage of grief. She was the one family member dragging their feet. The rest of the family was trying to move on with their lives the best they could while dealing with the grief.

There are some scary moments within The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. At times it looks like something bad is going to happen to certain characters. A key is stolen. At the end of the movie we are treated to some ballet where there is a lack of attire issue. The Nutcracker and the Four Realms does a decent job of throwing a curve at the viewer. We learn who is good and who is bad. It is not initially what we thought though. Stopping and listening could have stopped a lot of heartache.

Toys are brought to life in The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. I am still a bit fuzzy on how that happened. Where did Clara's mom find all of the equipment to build such a fantastic machine? For me The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is a one time viewing. Once I have seen this movie I know where it is going and how it will get there. The swerves are no longer any kind of surprise. It was still an interesting journey there the first time.
