Traditional Braves
SCORE: 71
I am very thankful that Family Friendly
Gaming was given a digital download code for Traditional Braves on the
Nintendo Switch. We were also given an Amazon gift. Want to be sure to
get that out there for full disclosure. Traditional Braves is an
interesting turn based strategy role playing video game. I recorded a
video of it that should be up on our website within a month of this
review being published online.
The dialogue in Traditional Braves is very interesting. At first glance
I thought the grammar was off. But then I have been accused of the same
thing myself. I don't know if the dialogue was an attempt at humor or
not. Some of the dialogue does sound kind of funny. There are these
royal siblings that are working together on a dungeon in Traditional
Braves. We find out which one won the previous game and is the new king.
I won't spoil any of that for you.
I did not play the first game in this franchise, so I am coming in
learning all about it as I played it. Traditional Braves has a really
cool feature. There are these cards we can use in battle that will help
us. An example would be a perfect defense so a character does not die
when they are being attacked and have low health. Traditional Braves has
a code you can scan with your smart phone to see the manual and learn
some tips and tricks.
Traditional Braves is definitely on the challenging side. The ability to
pick easier difficulty settings would have been appreciated. I also
noticed in some battles they asked me to do it in so many rounds. I was
not able to hit that mark, but Traditional Braves let me continue the
game after beating the battle multiple turn later. I appreciated that
personally.
Traditional Braves looks decent, and has some nice music in it. The
characters faces are what we see on the battle screen. We see full
character art when they are having conversations, and right before a
battle. The strategy and AI intelligence is pretty good in Traditional
Braves. Leveling up and using those bonus points can be important in
Traditional Braves.
I enjoyed my time with Traditional Braves. Daidai is trying some
interesting and different things. Traditional Braves is one of those
games that grew on me the more I played it. I enjoyed the sibling
character interactions within Traditional Braves. A story only mode
might be an interesting feature to be added in future games as well.
Just a thought.
