Batman Fortress #8

I found myself excited to finish off this series and see where it would go. Batman Fortress #8 disappointed me on so many different levels. Those whole redefine Superman’s origins continues. Along with that new catch phrase. I did some research to find out this series is not part of the Elseworlds. Batman Fortress would make more sense if it was part of the Elseworlds. DC Comics decided to redefine the existence and history of Superman. It also redefines the people of Krypton and attacks Americans. There will be spoilers in this review.

The issues families will have with Batman Fortress #8 is violence, bad language, blood, gore, and more. Superman is woken up by the heroes that are in the Fortress of Solitude. Superman was hiding and hoping the aliens would just leave. That cowardly act is part of the totally redefined Superman in Batman Fortress #8. The aliens show up and demand Superman be given to them. The heroes will not give him up.

Lex Luthor is the only smart one in the entire bunch. Luthor tries to negotiate a compromise that will work for everyone. He even offers the aliens some kryptonite so they can control Superman. The aliens freak out over what they think is a betrayal and murder Luthor. They contort his body and armor into a cube dripping blood. This scene is one of the most disturbing I have read since coming back to the comic book industry.

There is a little skirmish between the aliens and heroes in Batman Fortress #8. Lex Luthor was proven right yet again about fighting in that structure so far down on the bottom of the ocean. Superman stops the fighting and agrees to come back with the aliens. Batman demands he come along and help defend Superman. At least one of the aliens notices that Superman is different from the others they captured.

There is twenty-two pages of comic book content within Batman Fortress #8. Ads can be found throughout this comic book. Superman gives up his powers in Batman Fortress #8. Bruce Wayne takes those powers and decides he will lead humanity into a better tomorrow. He will force people to do what he wants done. The radical far left undertones of hatred, and dictatorship are all over Batman Fortress #8.
