Batman Knightwatch #5

I am very thankful I had the money to purchase a copy of the Batman Knightwatch #5 comic book. There are two main stories within Batman Knightwatch #5 and a sneak peek at another book. The two stories within Batman Knightwatch #5 are Harley's Hyenas, and Invasion of the Owl-Men. The sneak peek is of Deadman Tells the Spooky Tales. I have actually read the sneak peek of the Deadman Tells the Spooky Tales in another comic book I read recently.

There will be spoilers in this review. The first story Harley's Hyenas is all about Harley Quinn. She steals two hyenas from the zoo. They are her pets that she feeds all this meat too. That is how the Knightwatch is able to notify Batman of where the hyenas are being kept. There was an order for one hundred pounds of meat. Then another order for the next week. The butcher dropped off the meat.

Batman and Batgirl go and investigate this building. They find Harley Quinn and the two hyenas. There is some violence as the two heroes try to subdue the hyenas. Harley escapes so they lay a trap to catch her. The hyenas are used as bait and Harley Quinn comes just as expected. This was a really predictable story. Batgirl getting bit was an interesting part in Batman Knightwatch #5 for me.

Invasion of the Owl-Men is a different kind of story. There are three kids at the library trying to come up with a comic book to write. The main one wants to go with Mr Freeze because he is so cool. The artists is not interested in that idea at all. So the girl comes up with the idea to use Owl-Men since Owls are natural predators of bats. The design looks more like one of the Talons from the Court of Owls.

The kids decide to have Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, Huntress and even Batwoman help out Batman in Batman Knightwatch #5. The kids leave the library and see Catwoman. They call it in to Knightwatch. I am not sure why since she is not doing anything criminal, but maybe they want to err on the side of caution. There is some humor within Batman Knightwatch #5 that kids will most likely understand.
