Cars #1
SCORE: 93
Noah did not want to be left out of piling on a ton of work on me.
Technically Noah decided to clean up his room like Peter had done. Well
maybe not exactly like Peter had done but close enough. So Noah found a
ton of older comic books. As if I do not have enough to do I now have
another large pile of comic books to work into my extremely busy
schedule. There will be spoilers in this review. Cars #1 comes from
2009.
This comic books comes from a time when Boom Studios had a booming Boom
Kids! sector. This is exactly what Cars #1 falls under. I was not sure
what to expect from Cars #1. I had no clue where in the timeline this
comic would be either. Cars #1 is right after the movie. In fact parts
of Cars #1 remind me of those THQ Cars video games. So the content is
obviously cannon. Lightning has invited racers to come to Radiator
Springs and race at the Radiator Springs Raceway.
Chick Hicks shows up and insults the town, people, and kids in Cars #1.
One of the lessons in this comic book is to stand up to bullies. A young
car Timmy does that after Chick Hicks insults him. The King and Doc show
up in Cars #1. One of the kids asks Doc Hudson about what it was like
racing in the old days. Doc shares his memories from that time and what
got him back into racing.
I am pretty pleased to read the content within Cars #1. This comic book
expands the universe and adds something that fans of the franchise will
want to know about. It was also pretty neat to see Doc open up about his
past in Cars #1. There is also a great explanation about how Doc went
from a race car to a doctor. He had to learn how to fix himself since
the doctors at the time would not. Once he helped his rival he went and
got the official training.
Cars #1 looks good, and there is plenty of text for kids to read. I have
always really enjoyed the Cars franchise personally. I am actually glad
Noah found this comic book. There are more comic books in this series
that I will be working into my reading pile. The next issue is supposed
to contain the race. I know what winds up happening from the video
games. It will still be fun to read in comic book form.
