Dark Knights of Steel #1

Dark Knights of Steel #1 is another one of those comic books I got for free thanks to spending a certain amount of money on free comic book day. To be honest thus far the comics I have read from that pile have not really impressed me. Dark Knights of Steel #1 is a bit different. This comic book stuck out. It is an interesting concept and idea. I did some research and found this comic book series is part of the DC Elseworlds franchise. There will be spoilers in this review.

Krypton is about to explode so Jor-el and Lara get into a ship and crash land on Earth. They do so right before Kal-El is born. The interesting twist in Dark Knights of Steel #1 is they are in medieval times. Jor-El winds up king over a castle and wants to protect his son. Batman serves the family as their knight. Harley Quinn is their court jester. Green Arrow and Green Lantern attack and shoot Jor-El right in the eye. It looks like he is dead at the end of Dark Knights of Steel #1.

The issues families will have with Dark Knights of Steel #1 are violence, blood, false gods, bad language, lack of attire and more. There are twenty-six pages of comic book content within Dark Knights of Steel #1. Some of the profanity is shown with symbols and others are spelled out. I guess they are allowed certain bad words at certain ratings and worse ones must be hidden to retain that rating.

Batman has all these different Robins that help him out in the field. The El family knows a magician has been sent to kill Kal-El. They think it is Banshee who is actually Dinah. She is captured thanks to Kal-El in Dark Knights of Steel #1. She did some damage to Batman but not a lot. Which is a mystery within itself. There are quite a few layers of the onion to be revealed in this series. According to my research there were twelve issues in this series.

I am debating if I want to try and purchase a graphic novel or more of the comic books in this series. Dark Knights of Steel #1 caught my interest. At some point in the future I will make a decision. There is some interesting art within Dark Knights of Steel #1. There are other characters shown in Dark Knights of Steel #1. I am not clear on who all of them are. I am interested in finding out who they are though.
