Doom
SCORE: 30
One of the movies that caught my eye on Black Friday 2022 was Doom. I
vaguely remember this movie from the past. What I found interesting is
The Rock is in it. Noah and Peter were shocked to find out there was a
Doom movie. To be clear and totally transparent there is very little in
this movie that connects to the video games by the same name. I played
Doom back in the day when it first came out. I have not played any of
the newer versions that are extremely macabre and morbid.
There will be spoilers in this review. The issues families will have
with Doom are blood, gore, violence, nudity, lack of attire, enticement
to lust, bad language, sexual comments and more. Doom feels more like a
Resident Evil movie. There is something that was discovered during an
archeological dig. There were humanoids that had an extra pair of
chromosomes. They were powerful and healed almost immediately. Not sure
how they figured that out from bones.
The thing is this extra pair of chromosomes turns some people into ugly
disgusting monsters. The monsters attack others in the neck to turn them
into monsters. The only do that to others that will turn into monsters
like them. They try and kill the normal humans that would gain super
powers. This team of Marines goes in for this corporation to contain an
outbreak without knowing what they are facing.
It is interesting to see how horrible of an actor The Rock actually was.
He was not good for this role at all. Karl Urban is another story. He
does a fantastic job in Doom. The writing is atrocious and the
connection to the video game is mainly in name only. The blood, gore,
and violence is over the top. Many of the characters are very cliched in
Doom. All we found at the store was the unrated version that is supposed
to be extended.
Doom is dark most of the time. Every so often they turn on the lights.
Why don't they have the lights on all of the time? Stuff like that makes
little to no sense to me. It takes the characters forever to figure out
what is going on even with all of the clues sitting right in front of
them. Pass unless you want to see some bad acting, bad storytelling, and
all kind of bad content. Maybe I can save you some time and money.
