Dr. Stone 17
SCORE: 69
The story really starts to fly forward in Dr. Stone 17. I am so
thankful I had the money to purchase a copy of this manga. There will be
some spoilers in this review. The kingdom of science is on their ship
sailing across the ocean to the United States of America. Or what used
to be the United States of America. Senku and Ryusui argue about the
best path across the ocean. Senku wants a faster path so they do not
miss the corn season. They are hoping to find the corn still there
thousands of years later.
Gambling is the method used to determine which path will be taken. Both
sides cheat in the high stakes card game. Drinks are also created and
alcohol is on the way. Dr. Stone 17 also contains violence, lack of
attire, enticement to lust, blood, and more. Senku winds up winning and
they take the shorter path. The ship winds up way more south than I was
expecting honestly. The science team starts to go upstream to find the
corn. This journey produces something very interesting and unexpected.
Dr. Stone 17 answers the question if there are other people not encased
in stone anymore on other continents. We meet an adult scientist in Dr.
Stone 17 that has made a factory, corn field, air plane, machine guns,
and more. The kingdom of science sends Gen in to try and scout out this
other society. Gen must beat a lie detector device to be able to win
over the corn. Dr. Xeno is the adult scientist in this new culture. I am
very curious how it will go when Dr. Xeno and Senku finally meet up. As
of right now they have not met. They are aware of one another though.
There is a funny moment in Dr. Stone 17 when some alligators attack the
kingdom of science. The Battle Team is really excited about getting some
meat. I hope they harvest other parts like the skin and teeth for armor
and weapons. I also like how Senku brings down the fighter plane that
comes after them. He brings it down with the least amount of damage.
That way they can salvage it and use it themselves. It also tells them
this other culture has an airfield. Probably some form of radar as well.
A lot winds up happening in Dr. Stone 17. I am not very big on the
gambling and both sides cheating personally. Once mixed drinks were
created I expected that alcohol would not be far behind. I really hope
the two scientists can work together after Dr. Stone 17. I have a
feeling their agendas will not align. It would be nice for negotiations
to win the day instead of some battle. This series has been known for
very little bloodshed.
