Gargoyles #9

I am so stoked to have the money to purchase a copy of the Gargoyles #9 comic book. We finally get to something in Gargoyles #9 that I have been waiting for - for some time now. We finally get to the court case with Goliath. There are some interesting facets of the court case within Gargoyles #9. Please be aware there will be spoilers in this review of Gargoyles #9.

The judge has some interesting confusion in Gargoyles #9. This is not a trial. There will be no jury. There is only a judgement on whether Gargoyles are sentient or not. Sort of like a competency trial. That is how Gargoyles #9 explains it to the reader. This make perfect sense to me. There are different motions before the hearing even begins in Gargoyles #9. The two lawyers are really jockeying for position in Gargoyles #9.

Gargoyles #9 contains twenty-two pages of comic book content, then information on the next issue, next are some advertisements, and finally there is the cover gallery. They make a lot of different covers for this comic book. There is only discussion of the past in Gargoyles #9. Humans destroyed a great many Gargoyles in the past. The lawyer trying to prove Goliath is not sentient wants to claim they want revenge. Wouldn't that prove sentience?

After I read Gargoyles #9 I realize that sentience had already been proven. Goliath resisted the opportunity to get angry when he was being verbally attacked. Goliath stayed in jail even though he could have escaped multiple times. The lawyer against Goliath seems to be obsessing about whether humans should fear Gargoyles or not. That does not prove they are mindless dumb animals.

The ending of Gargoyles #9 is a bit of a twist. Goliath did not want someone to testify. Can you guess who that is? The person is Elisa Nichelle Maza. Do you remember what her role is in Gargoyles #9? If not she is romantically linked with a Gargoyle. I think that might be Goliath. I would need to go back months to check that out. She is also a police detective. The next issue should be very interesting indeed.
