Gargoyles Dark Ages #3
SCORE: 74
Gargoyles Dark Ages #3 moves the story along at a nitro pace. The
last issue of this comic book ended with the leader of the clan making
an oath to end this very soon. I was very curious to see how he would
end the king and his entire army in one issue after that last issue had
a battle of armies and some Gargoyles were killed. Gargoyles Dark Ages
#3 answers that question. There will be spoilers in this review.
The plan in Gargoyles Dark Ages #3 is actually really simple. The
magician launches a lightning attack on the stables starting a fire. The
leader of the clan and the Gargoyle we know as Goliath go on the attack.
The two of them kill all of the human males with one exception. The
infant son of the king is saved and handed over to the what becomes the
new king. He decides to raise the child himself.
There is some mild violence and magic within Gargoyles Dark Ages #3. A
lot of the violence in Gargoyles Dark Ages #3 is not actually shown. One
character comments about burning to death being a bad way to go. Goliath
lets him know that not a man in there perished from the fire. In essence
he hints that they killed all of the men in that castle. The clan leader
kept his oath.
Goliath's mate is also saved in the attack in Gargoyles Dark Ages #3.
Goliath frees her from her chains. Gargoyles Dark Ages #3 has twenty
pages of comic book content, a page on the next issue, three pages of
the Tale of Three Brothers part the third, some advertisements and
finally the cover gallery. They make some cool front covers for this
comic book in my personal opinion.
Things take an interesting turn after the king is coronated in Gargoyles
Dark Ages #3. The humans decide to build a castle at Wyvern. They want
to team up with the Gargoyles. The idea is the humans can keep the
Gargoyles safe at day and the Gargoyles can keep them safe at night. It
sounds really good on paper. I do know something will have to go wrong
at some point in the future.
