Guardians of the Galaxy #5

If you read my review of Guardians of the Galaxy #4 then you know some of the things that went on in regards to Guardians of the Galaxy #5. I actually read Guardians of the Galaxy #5 and realized I had not read the previous issue. So I fast tracked the previous issue and put Guardians of the Galaxy #5 back down in the pile. I read Guardians of the Galaxy #5 a second time. There will be spoilers in this review.

Most of Guardians of the Galaxy #5 is pretty dark and depressing. There are characters drinking, drooling, and feeling sorry for themselves. Starlord is convinced they can reach Groot after what happened a couple of issues ago. Rocket Racoon is convinced that Groot is gone. In fact thanks to the Grootfall Rocket Racoon believes they are all going to become Groot very soon.

One thing about Guardians of the Galaxy #5 that confuses me is no one talks about going to the source. Grootfalls are coming from somewhere. Where is that source? Also once a Grootfall lands on a planet and takes it over can it leave? Falling into the atmosphere of a planet is easier than escaping its gravity. None of that is actually explained in Guardians of the Galaxy #5 to my satisfaction.

The issues families can have with Guardians of the Galaxy #5 are alcohol, violence, blood, bad language, and more. Mantis has a magic dress that gives her multiple different personalities. That sounds like a real messed up situation to me. Why would you even want such a thing? There is some false gods reference on the cover and within Guardians of the Galaxy #5.

Guardians of the Galaxy #5 consists of the credits and recap page, then twenty pages of comic book content. Advertisements can be found throughout the Guardians of the Galaxy #5 comic book. One of next month's covers is also shown in Guardians of the Galaxy #5. There are also four pages within Guardians of the Galaxy #5 that honor John Romita. I am trying to decide if I want to continue this series or not. I am curious about Groot, otherwise this has been a big disappointment.
