Magneto #1
SCORE: 70
They give out these free periodicals at the local comic book stores.
In them are what is coming out in a few months. I remember seeing
Magneto #1 some months back in one of those. I read about it and thought
this might have some promise to it. The front cover shows two different
groups Magneto lead in his past. These groups are the Brotherhood of
Evil Mutants and the New Mutants. There will be spoilers in this review.
Magneto #1 starts in a very interesting fashion. The New Mutants are
fighting off the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. This is actually a
holodeck like simulation battle training program in Magneto #1. Magneto
is trying to teach these students how to better protect and defend
themselves from the dangers in the world. Magneto is shown as very
tortured in Magneto #1. He has done plenty of bad in the past.
Magneto #1 attempts to redefine Magneto in a way I never expected.
Magneto became a super villain so there could be mutant heroes. I
remember reading some of those comics back in the day and Magneto seemed
to make some good points about how mutants were treated by humans. He
was also someone who had been persecuted as a Jew. Magneto recognized
that kind of behavior in human beings.
The issues families can have with Magneto #1 are violence, blood, lack
of attire, enticement to lust, evolution, bad language and more. The
whole redefine Magneto to play the role of the villain seemed a bit odd
to me. There are thirty pages of comic book content within Magneto #1.
Advertisements can be found throughout this comic book. I think this
series is going to be limited to a few issues.
Magneto #1 introduces IRAE to us. She is running the sisterhood of evil
mutants in Magneto #1. She beats down the New Mutants and kidnaps
Magneto. They have their ruler. Magneto #1 claims that women are so much
more powerful than men. I suspect Magneto #1 could fit under the
umbrella of war on men. IRAE decimates so many other powerful mutants
easily in Magneto #1. I suspect she will lose later on. Her attack is
not very believable.
