Mega Man #17
SCORE: 77
Mega Man #17 is another one of the comic books Peter found when
cleaning his room. I put it in my pile to be read and reviewed when the
opportunity presented itself. You should be able to discern that is
exactly what has happened now. I am very interested in this comic book.
We may need to try and find some more of these comic books in the
future. It is fascinating to see what comic books Peter was into when he
was younger. There will be spoilers in this review.
Mega Man #17 starts the origins of Proto Man. There are two stories
within Mega Man #17. The first story in Mega Man #17 is Proto-Type Part
One. The second story is Construction Derby. Proto-Type Part One is
fifteen pages of content, and Construction Derby is five pages of
content. There is no connection I can tell between the two stories.
There are advertisements found all throughout the Mega Man #17 comic
book.
We learn about how and why Proto Man (aka Blue) was created. Dr. Light
assumes that Blue is now gone because of his faulty power supply. He
does not know that Blue left with some energy to try and survive. Blue
also left because he was afraid he was going to lose his personality and
individuality. The problem is the military was funding the research and
they wanted a weapon. That was the point of the funding.
Dr. Light and Dr. Wily worked together in the past according to Mega Man
#17. The first page of Mega Man #17 is a really good and long
explanation about what previously happened. There is also a page near
the end from the editor called: "Rock On." Mega Man #17 includes Mega
Mail which is correspondence from fans of the comic book. One of the
covers of the next issue is also shown in Mega Man #17.
The Construction Derby story within Mega Man #17 is all about Guts Man,
and Concrete Man. They are working to fix a dam so a town is not
flooded. At first Guts Man does not think he needs the help. They wind
up working together and at the end of Mega Man #17 they are singing
karaoke together. Mega Man #17 encourages cooperation and respecting the
work others perform. Some of the advertisements in Mega Man #17 interest
me.
