My Little Pony #13

If you watched the FFG Haul June 2023 live stream (or the video version afterward) then you know I had a comment about My Little Pony #13. I pointed out the superstition that thirteen is an unlucky number. My Little Pony has had a few issues lately that did not do so well. Would they turn it around or start to turn it around in My Little Pony #13? There will be spoilers in this comic book review.

My Little Pony #13 contains a one shot story that contains twenty pages of comic book content. Then we see one of next month's covers, the alternate covers for this month, and finally some advertisements. The art in Skull Cat reminds me of Cuphead. The ponies this comic books series has been following are working together as a team in the Maritime Bay Beachside Bake-Off. It is a cooking competition with three judges.

The crew finds out in My Little Pony #13 that they must make something that is Baked with Love. Yolanda likes to watch a lot of these cooking shows. I have seen a fair share of them myself. There are constantly cooks that claim they cooked whatever with love. What did the others bake with? hate? indifference? greed? Ultimately it never made much sense to me personally. That is the goal of this cooking competition in My Little Pony #13.

The problem is too many of the ponies in My Little Pony #13 have a different idea of what should be baked. They tell stories of how they liked this desert of that desert and why. Can you guess what solution they came to in My Little Pony #13? They decided to throw the best ingredients from each of these different deserts into one cookie. If you know anything about cooking you know where this is going.

I give My Little Pony #13 credit for having a realistic ending. Only one of the three judges liked their cookies. Another team won for making one cohesive desert. One of the judges mentioned they needed to tweak the recipe a bit. I can imagine that all of those different flavors would not work well together. Again I have seen enough cooking shows to realize when something is a really bad idea. My Little Pony #13 has good art, and nice dialogue.
