NHL 23

Did you catch any of the live streams I did of NHL 23? If not you should be able to find two videos of this game in the Videos section of the Family Friendly Gaming website. I actually streamed NHL 23 on Rumble, and Twitch. The Rumble live stream was too glitchy to save which is a shame since it showed some amazing things like the goalie leaving to become another attacker. I got two easy goals that way.

One thing the videos of NHL 23 show is my frustration with this game. At one point I had taken thirty-one good shots and only had one goal to show for it. It is like we have to trick the game, and have a player in the goalies way to be able to score. I just kept knocking on that door until I got some to go in. Another game I put the goalie in the goal to score. This was on the easiest difficulty setting too.

NHL 23 has different viewpoints but the puck drop is still a bad angle. I found the oldest control scheme works the best for me. Isn’t that sad that a control scheme from decades ago works better than the newest ones? NHL 23 has had that problem for a long time though. When there are closeups the graphics look decent. Otherwise things are really small in NHL 23. We get to see the different arenas and they look decent. We got quite a few laughs out of the name of the Seattle Krakens ice rink.

NHL Threes is a mode that families can enjoy. It is a much faster more arcade style with three on three. Technically four on four if you count the goalie. There are some neat different rinks to play in, and unlock in NHL 23. If you are into women sports then you can play with females in NHL 23. My accurate opinion of women’s sports has been well known and well documented. No need to get into that again. There are more offline modes than online which is great to see.

The offline modes in NHL 23 are Play Now, Be A Pro Career, Franchise Mode, Tournaments, IIHF Tournaments, Ones Now, NHL Threes, Season Mode, and Playoff Mode. The Online modes in NHL 23 are Hockey Ultimate Team, World of Chel, Online Versus, HUT Rush, and NHL Threes Online. There are of course settings, and the music can be turned off. You can also turn off the announcers if you do not want to hear them.

Fights are a part of NHL 23 and are easy to initiate if you know the right button to press. You can also knock other players down with some brutal shoulder blocks in NHL 23. Violence and bad language are the main issues families will have with NHL 23.
