Ron's Gone Wrong
SCORE: 83
Ron's Gone Wrong is one of the movies I found on Black Friday 2022.
It looked interesting and something that would most likely be family
friendly. Ron's Gone Wrong is an animated movie that takes one hundred
and seven minutes to watch. This middle schooler Barney is a bit on the
awkward side. He wants to fit in and have some friends again. All of the
kids but Barney have a B-Bot. B-Bots are also known as Bubble Bots. They
are a friend right out of the box. There will be spoilers in this
review.
This big tech company in Ron's Gone Wrong called Bubble is using the
B-Bots to get information about the kids. That way they can sell them
more by tailoring the advertisements to their personal perferences. The
B-Bot is the child's friend in some regards. It connects all of their
social media accounts to learn about them. Getting the most views and
viewers is what the B-Bit helps with.
In one scene a bunch of B-Bots bonded together and ate this girl. The
girl winds up dropping out of the bottom of this giant B-Bot monster.
She says something about how it pooped her out. Her B-Bot posts the
video online with #poopgirl. This is a rather embarrassing thing that
happened to her. She has to keep facing it because her B-Bot is
constantly telling her how many views this video has gotten her. A true
friend would not post that on the Internet.
Ron's Gone Wrong explores the concept of friendship. What is a friend?
Barney winds up getting a broken B-Bot that cannot connect to the
servers and does not have safety protocols turned on. Barney reaches
this B-Bot named Ron how to be a friend. Ron does things to help Barney
- truly help him. The company wants to destroy Ron since he is
defective. Ron's Gone Wrong shows the lack of morals and ethics from Big
Tech. Maybe that is why Ron's Gone Wrong went so far under the radar.
There is some violent content here and there in Ron's Gone Wrong. Ron
hits a kid that is bullying Barney. There is also some language issues
here and there within Ron's Gone Wrong. There is plenty of humor in
Ron's Gone Wrong. I laughed quite a bit watching this movie. In some
ways Ron's Gone Wrong reminds me of the movies that Illumination does.
It has a similar feel in some regards. Kids should enjoy Ron's Gone
Wrong. The social commentary on social media is fascinating.
