Sonic The Hedgehog #56

I am thankful I was able to find and purchase a copy of the Sonic The Hedgehog #56 comic book. This is the big go home issue where there is a battle royale between Eggman, Sonic, Metal Sonic, and Tails versus Surge and Kit. There will be spoilers in this review. Sonic The Hedgehog #56 starts with the Story thus far so readers can catch up on what has been going on in case they have not read the previous issues.

Most of Sonic The Hedgehog #56 is a battle. There is some conversation within Sonic The Hedgehog #56 that is interesting. Surge asks Sonic about being okay with teaming up with Eggman and Metal Sonic. Sonic's answer is if it stops him from getting killed them he is all for it. That is an interesting reasoning I did not expect from Sonic the Hedgehog. At one point Eggman saves Sonic the Hedgehog in this comic book.

Sadly nothing gets resolved in Sonic The Hedgehog #56. Surge is defeated yet again. Kit comes to her rescue and leaves. In the process Kit brings the house down on his opponents. All of them get out of that death trap. Sonic does free the wisps and plans on taking them back to their owner. That means Sonic and Tails had to let Eggman get away at the end. It was neat to see Tails and Kit refuse to fight one another.

The main issue families will have with Sonic The Hedgehog #56 is violence. There are twenty pages of content, next month's cover, alternate covers for this month and a few advertisements. Sonic the Hedgehog makes a really good point in Sonic The Hedgehog #56 to Surge. She is free and Dr. Starline is no longer forcing her to do anything. Surge sees herself as in the shadow of Sonic the Hedgehog. She can only move on when he is dead. A pretty messed up mentality if you ask me.

At the end of Sonic The Hedgehog #56 everyone looks pretty defeated. Ultimately I am not sure anyone actually won. No one really got what they wanted. Technically Sonic did by freeing the wisps. Otherwise Surge and Kit are still out there. I figure they will be back again at some point in the near future. There is an interesting comment in Sonic The Hedgehog #56 that it was a waste of time. I can relate.
