Sonic The Hedgehog #57

I am very thankful that one of our local comic book stores had a copy of Sonic The Hedgehog #57 to be purchased. I am also thankful I had the money, and time to review this comic book. Sonic The Hedgehog #57 picks up an older item and starts a new thread with it. There will be spoilers in this review. Many of the characters in Sonic The Hedgehog #57 are unfamiliar to me. They have been in Sonic The Hedgehog comic books in the past though.

We meet the Diamond Cutters in Sonic The Hedgehog #57. They had nothing to do with Diamond Dallas Page though. The Diamond Cutters are Jewel the Beetle, Tangle the Lemur, Whisper the Wolf, and Lanolin the sheep. Whisper has her wisps back in Sonic The Hedgehog #57. There are references to Eggman, Surge and others within Sonic The Hedgehog #57. Sonic joins the Diamond Cutters in their recon mission of the new city Eggman created.

Sonic The Hedgehog #57 shows us a couple of interesting things. The city is going larger. It is digging underground and strip mining everything for the resources to repair itself and to grow. There is an interesting debate about coming back with more of a force or trying to stop it right then and there. How much bigger will it grow if you leave? Are you really capable of taking it out with so few characters?

The main issue families will have with Sonic The Hedgehog #57 is violence. Sonic The Hedgehog #57 starts with the story so far, then twenty pages of content, next month, Sonic Letter Squad, Creator Corner, alternate covers and then a few advertisements. There are plenty of action sequences in Sonic The Hedgehog #57 that make it a pretty quick read. At the end of Sonic The Hedgehog #57 the Diamond Cutters are in trouble and Sonic is asking for reinforcements.

All in all Sonic The Hedgehog #57 is a decent little read. The portal that comes after the characters sounds really bad. It looks like some of the characters went through that portal. I am not educated as to where that portal will take them. I hope to find out in the next issue. Sonic looks like he is in big trouble at the end of Sonic The Hedgehog #57. I hope help arrives in time. I think Tails and Amy are part of the rescue squad.
