Star Trek #6
SCORE: 62
I am very thankful I had the money to purchase a copy of the Star
Trek #6 comic book. The last issue left us with a freaky cliffhanger.
Star Trek #6 picks up right where the last one left off. That are some
confusing aspects of Star Trek #6 though. I will try and get into that
later in this review. Star Trek #6 contains twenty-two pages of content,
one of next month's covers, alternate covers and then some
advertisements. There are also two pages in Star Trek #6 devoted to Star
Trek related things like Red Alert. There will be spoilers in this
review.
Data is trying to get to Captain Sisko in Star Trek #6. Captain Sisko is
on this giant creature that is flying in space toward Earth. This giant
creature is causing a distortion that can mess with life on different
planets. The crew of the U.S.S. Theseus is able to nudge this creature
so it goes toward less inhabited planets. Captain Sisko somehow connects
to the Prophets and is able to contact this creature. The creature is
talked down from this attack. Star Trek #6 also announces they know who
is behind these attacks (Klingons).
Worf left and went after his son in Star Trek #6. This is not really
shown but referenced. Worf stole a shuttle craft and went after Kayless
when the crew was dealing with the giant creature. Dr. Crusher is made
the first officer at the end of Star Trek #6. She must still handle her
medical duties though. She gets two jobs in Star Trek #6. Will Dr.
Crusher get twice the pay? Somehow I doubt it. The recap in Star Trek #6
is on the back of the front cover on the credits page. There are some
nice two page pieces of art in Star Trek #6.
The issues families can have with Star Trek #6 are violence, and
promotion of false gods. All these different powerful aliens are
referenced as gods in Star Trek #6. Data is able to figure out that
their ship has some new proto-drive that makes it go even faster. It was
something that the wife of Tom Paris had been working on. She had not
gotten it to work. The crew of this ship do easily get it working in
Star Trek #6. The reasons this giant alien stopped elude me. Why did it
decide to quit? Because Captain Sisko regrets leaving his son?
Star Trek #6 does a good job showing off high warp speeds. The ship is
having issues with such high speeds. It really helps that Captain Sisko
was able to talk this giant alien down. The motivations are still not
making much sense to me. At the end of Star Trek #6 Captain Sisko
decides he is going back to Deep Space Nine. I would think they would
want to hunt the Klingon ship down. Maybe all of Star Fleet should be
trying to stop Kayless. What do I know? Star Trek #6 wraps up this
storyline in some regards.
