Star Trek Resurgence #1

Peter and I were at one of our local comic book stores and I noticed Star Trek Resurgence #1. I have not been that big on Star Trek comic books since coming back to the comic book industry. What caught my eye is Star Trek Resurgence #1 references it is the prequel to the Star Trek Resurgence video game. Whenever I see interesting things that have a relation to the video game industry I am much more interested in checking it out.

Star Trek Resurgence #1 is the typical IDW Publishing comic book. There are twenty page of content, then next month's cover (or at least one of them), alternate covers for the current issue, and then a few advertisements. There will be spoilers in this review. Star Trek Resurgence #1 introduces us to Dr. Leah Brahms. She sounds familiar to me somehow. The crew of the Resurgence is tasked with bringing her back after the Talarian's kidnapped her.

Dr. Leah Brahms was near the Talarian border while searching for some exotic, heavy isotope dilithium. It could improve warp engines dramatically. The one issue with this mineral is it is highly unstable. It could be boom at any moment. When the away team goes down to the planet they realize they are right on top of a deposit and the whole area could go boom at any moment. The crew follows the warp signatures to find the doctor lady.

Star Trek Resurgence #1 contains a little bit of violence here and there. I expect things will heat up in future issues. There is also some mild language issues within Star Trek Resurgence #1. I am surprised at generally how clean Star Trek Resurgence #1 actually is. Star Trek Resurgence #1 is mainly build up for what is coming. I am not familiar with the upcoming video game or its storyline. I will get around to it when the time comes. I will at least get some understanding of what lead up to the video game.

The paper is nice and so is the artwork within Star Trek Resurgence #1. The Talarians do not like other races and feel like they have been mistreated by the Federation. The first office Commander Sutherland is a really good character within Star Trek Resurgence #1. The captain has a past connection to Dr. Leah Brahms. The first officer solves problems in Star Trek Resurgence #1 in some pretty cool ways.
