Star Wars The High Republic Adventures #1 2022
SCORE: 69
I had previously purchased Star Wars The High Republic Adventures #2
and Star Wars The High Republic Adventures #3 from IDW Publishing and
was curious to read the first one. I recently ran across Star Wars The
High Republic Adventures #1 at one of our local comic book stores.
Something was different though. Star Wars The High Republic Adventures
#1 comes from Dark Horse comics. I bought the other two last year. What
is going on here?
As I performed research on this I have found there have numerous
different comic books entitled Star Wars The High Republic Adventures.
What I had read last year was Star Wars The High Republic Adventures
2021, and this one is Star Wars The High Republic Adventures 2022. They
certainly do not make it easy at times by using the same name for
different comic books. Please be aware there will be spoilers in this
review.
Star Wars The High Republic Adventures #1 introduces us to Sav Malagan.
She is a padawan at the Jedi temple. She is supposed to be very
powerful. Thing is she does not like the rules at the Jedi temple so she
goes to hang out with pirates. She is fifteen so that is certainly in
the rebellious age range. Sav Malagan sneaks out of the Jedi temple and
gets involved in what could turn into a gang war. Sav then joins a gang
of thugs.
Star Wars The High Republic Adventures #1 reminds me of a nice lady I
knew in Seattle. She was from China and told me a story about the
Buddhist monks not caring that people in the village were starving. They
were all about their nirvana. Christian missionaries came and fed the
people. The contrast stuck out to her. The difference between selfless
and selfish. She became a Christian because of the contrast she saw with
her own eyes.
Star Wars The High Republic Adventures #1 is twenty pages, with next
months cover, and then some advertisements. There is violent content
within Star Wars The High Republic Adventures #1. There is also lies and
deceit. Sav creates trouble at one point getting two characters to
fight. She acts more like a Sith than a Jedi. Here we go with another
Star Wars story with an anti-hero Jedi that has been used again and
again.
