The Chroma Tick #1

On one of our recent trips to a local comic book store I checked out some of the older comics in the bins. Since the last comic around The Tick was interesting I decided to check out The Chroma Tick #1 . This comic book was done in color. I guess some people were not pleased with that at the time. I personally like it much better than the black and white version. This might be a personal preference though. There will be spoilers in this review.

When The Chroma Tick #1 was sold initially it cost $3.95. I was able to purchase The Chroma Tick #1 for four dollars. At the very least this comic retained its value. There are thirty pages of comic book content within The Chroma Tick #1. There are some advertisements within The Chroma Tick #1 as well as some interviews. On top of that on the back of the front cover the Editor explains why they did a color version of this character.

The first thing that stuck out to me about The Chroma Tick #1 is the humor. The Chroma Tick #1 is extremely funny. I was laughing at multiple points while reading The Chroma Tick #1. The Tick is so clueless so much of The Chroma Tick #1. He tries things like grabbing a flag pole while falling down a building. He thinks he will spring back up. Or looking through a viewfinder trying to find crime. There is no Arthur in The Chroma Tick #1.

The Chroma Tick #1 does contain a bit of violence and some mild language that could offend some families. There are also trading cards in the middle of The Chroma Tick #1. They are pretty good condition too. I will be leaving them right where they are and sealing the bag after this review. The color looks great in The Chroma Tick #1. Some of the conversations are really odd within The Chroma Tick #1.

At one point The Tick wakes up in a tunnel. A Superman like character tries to save him in the tunnel. The Tick thinks he is inside a whale and the Superman like character is a Digestive Enzyme. The two of them tussle and train winds up hitting them. The Tick also looks for crime early in The Chroma Tick #1 and does not notice it when he comes across it. The Chroma Tick #1 is a special edition with forty pages in total.
