The Sandman Season One
SCORE: 36
I remember reading The Sandman comic books when I was younger. There
were weird and creepy characters in that comic book. Every so often an
interesting thought would be found in the Sandman comic books. I was
curious about The Sandman Season One on Netflix. My first concern was
the TV-MA rating. Why is that needed? Please be aware there will be
spoilers in this review. Although if you never watch the show because of
how bad it is then you do not need to worry about them.
The issues families will have with The Sandman Season One are violence,
blood, gore, magic, lack of attire, enticement to lust, nudity, sex
outside marriage, sexual deviancy, occult, bad language, false gods, and
more. The Sandman Season One takes us to all kinds of strange places
like hell. There is a female Constantine in The Sandman Season One. She
uses an odd method to bring out a demon who has possessed someone. That
person died by the way. There are plenty of gross and disturbing things
in The Sandman Season One.
The storyline of The Sandman Season One revolves around a human magician
trying to capture Death to have his dead son returned to him. Somehow he
captures Dream instead. He imprisons him thanks to a nightmare that
inspires serial killers. We later find out that Desire had something to
do with Dream being imprisoned. While Dream is away for over a hundred
years the Dream Realm falls into ruin. Most of the dreams and nightmares
leave. Dream gets vengeance on the humans and goes about restoring his
power. After that he cleans up the messes his minions have created. And
deals with a Dream Vortex.
There are a lot of characters in The Sandman Season One that need some
professional help if you catch my drift. The Sandman Season One
celebrates them and laughs at them instead of encouraging them to combat
their mental illnesses. I find that very sad and very damaging. There
are eleven episodes in total that make up The Sandman Season One. The
last episode is part animation and part live action that tells two
different totally non-related stories. I remember reading the cat one in
the comic books.
The only two items of interest for me in The Sandman Season One is the
man made immortal by Death, and the Death character. Much of the casting
in The Sandman Season One is questionable. Dream is very boring and
bland. Dream is supposedly in peril but easily turns it around. The
Sandman Season One teaches honesty is bad. Major bad characters are
easily disposed of. I never got invested in much of anything while
watching The Sandman Season One. The whole show is a snooze fest.
