Transformers #37
SCORE: 65
Since we were unable to find a copy of Transformers #37 at one of our
local comic book stores I spent the extra money to purchase it online. I
must admit that Transformers #37 did not impress me. There will be
spoilers in this review. At least I know how Ultra Magnus was captured.
I read about it in a comic book after this one. Reading comic books out
of order can make things confusing. There has also been a gap since I
read the other Transformers comics books.
There are two main storylines and threads that go through Transformers
#37. We have Cyclonus and whatever is going on with him. We then have
Optimus and Ultra Magnus visiting Codexa. There are some strange things
going on with Codexa in Transformers #37. She is a bot that is partially
absorbed into a wall. I am not sure what is going on with her. Optimus
realizes that Codexa will not be around in the near future.
The issues families can have with Transformers #37 are violence, and
more. There might be some sexual deviancy within Transformers #37. I am
not clear if a male character is talking about a relationship with
another male character or not. I am not too versed on who all of these
different characters are. One character wants to be alone and another
wants them to get into a relationship. I know IDW Publishing has a
history of promoting rebellion against God in other comic books.
Transformers #37 contains the story so far, twenty pages of content,
next months cover, alternate covers, and then some advertisements. What
is going on with Cyclonus is on the strange side. I am not sure if this
character is all there or not. I do know Cyclonus goes after Exarchon in
future issues of this comic book. There is also explanation about how
Exarchon can split into three but nothing beyond that.
Transformers #37 reminds us that Ultra Magnus is a great general. I am
not sure where that comes from though. Maybe he was part of a major war
in previous issues of this comic book series. I have seen no major
battle insight from Ultra Magnus at all since coming back to the comic
book industry. I do notice that the Autobots were captured pretty easily
within Transformers #37. I am getting less interested in this comic book
series by the issue.
