Transformers #39

I knew things would be seriously heating up in Transformers #39 after the cliffhanger the last issue left us. There is something really odd about Transformers #39 that I will get into later in this review. There are twenty pages of content, next issue, alternate covers, and advertisements within Transformers #39. There is also a Story So Far that recaps some high points from previous issues at the beginning of Transformers #39. There will be spoilers in this review.

Exarchon is becoming a real problem within Transformers #39. Exarchon is in Provoke and Flatline both in Transformers #39. Provoke is killed which then takes out that part of Exarchon. I see this character being a big problem going forward. He sort of inhabits and controls the bodies of other Transformers. There is no good way to tell where he is. Although if bots are paying attention they will notice things are a bit off with the possessed characters.

The Autobots that are surrounded get attacked. Thanks to the attack they are able to find weapons to defend themselves. Here is what perplexes me. Why did they go on a rescue mission with no weapons? I would want a variety of weapons with me if I were invading enemy territory and trying to free a comrade that had been imprisoned. Why did they need weapons from Swindle in the first place?

The artwork is pretty good within Transformers #39. There is plenty of violent content. One Transformer sticks his hand in the chest of another one to take out his robotic heart. It is a pretty dark moment within Transformers #39. Certain Transformers are injured in Transformers #39. Others are obviously killed. The Autobots do get away in Transformers #39. So they get back in their tunnel and are working their way home.

Cyclonus seems to see ghosts of bots in Transformers #39. After killing Provoke that is possessed by Exarchon he starts to see a ghost of Provoke. I wonder if all those bots he sees are ones that he killed. I am a bit perplexed what the purpose of Cyclonus is. He seems to think he knows what it is going forward. I guess I will need to keep reading to find out.
