What If Dark Venom #1
SCORE: 67
Decades ago I used to enjoy the What If comic books. Since I came
back to the comic book industry I ran across these new What If comic
books. What If Dark Venom #1 definitely fits the whole dark theme. I did
not get it with the Spider-Gwen one. I also find it interesting that
each issue is number one. Are there plans to continue any of them? I
honestly have no idea. There will be spoilers in this review.
What If Dark Venom #1 takes place after Secret Wars. Spider-Man left the
symbiote with Reed Richards. The Thing comes back and runs across the
symbiote. Reed Richards is still not able to fix The Thing and make him
human again. Can you guess what the symbiote promises The Thing? If you
guess make him human again then you are completely correct. For a time
here and there he can be human again. Which is pretty cool.
From here What If Dark Venom #1 goes a really odd direction. The Lizard
comes out of the sewers and wants The Thing to share this wonderful gift
he has received. Why did The Thing trust him? How did the Lizard find
out about this new Venom? It just feels like What If Dark Venom #1
decided to throw the Lizard in there for no good reason. Somehow The
Lizard smelled it from the sewers. I do not get it.
The Lizard steals the symbiote and goes and murders Sue and Reed
Richards. The Thing loses his humanity and can break out and get there
too late. So The Thing kills The Lizard and has the symbiote again. What
If Dark Venom #1 certainly ends really dark. I do feel like Sue Richards
should have been able to use her powers to save herself. What If Dark
Venom #1 just wanted to kill both of them.
The issues families can have with What If Dark Venom #1 are blood,
violence, murder, lack of attire, enticement to lust, bad language and
more. There are thirty pages of comic book content with advertisements
found throughout. What If Dark Venom #1 also shows what the next issue
in this series will be. I like how the credits page sets the stage for
the story in What If Dark Venom #1.
