X-Men 2099 #1

X-Men 2099 #1 is another one of those comic books we got free on free comic book 2023 for making a purchase over so many dollars. I vaguely remember this series from back in the day. According to the credits within X-Men 2099 #1 this comic book released in October of 1993. That was close to thirty years ago. It sold for $1.75 and has a shiny cover. All of those Pokemon trainers are probably pretty jealous right now. I got a shiny for free. There will be spoilers in this review.

Advertisements can be found throughout X-Men 2099 #1. Some of more historically fascinating than others. There are twenty-three pages of comic book content within X-Men 2099 #1. There are also previews for other comic books in the 2099 line up. The 2099 preview pages actually takes up fifteen pages within X-Men 2099 #1. I wonder if all of the 2099 comic books have the same content. I suspect they may since there are a few pages devoted to X-Men 2099. Which seems odd.

The issues families can have with X-Men 2099 #1 are violence, blood, lack of attire, enticement to lust, promotion of the evolution religious belief and more. We are introduced to an all new and different cast of mutants in X-Men 2099 #1. We also find out there are warlord like people reigning over certain areas. Fitzgerald and Serpentina are a couple of the new and interesting mutants within X-Men 2099 #1. I feel bad for Junkpile in X-Men 2099 #1. He gets so abused.

Xi'an and Synge have issues with one another. Synge is found dead and Xi'an is the main suspect. So police come and arrest him right? Nope. What happens in X-Men 2099 #1 is an assassin tries to shoot and kill Xi'an. Fitzgerald sees the assassin and is able to intervene. Xi'an is still shot but it is not fatal. The blood in X-Men 2099 #1 is white. I do not know if that was by design or some glitch with the printing. The mutants are invaded and must leave.

I suspect Junkpile had something to do with the assassin in X-Men 2099 #1. He looked that way and gave the all clear when we can clearly see someone there. I may try and look for more 2099 comic books at some point in the future. I have plenty on my plate to keep me busy for now though. X-Men 2099 #1 is interesting, and learning about the other characters in the 2099 line are also interesting. Some are more interesting now that they are older than thirty years.
