ALL-NEW FIREFLY #5

I love being able to get into my pile of older comic books awaiting my attention. ALL-NEW FIREFLY #5 is the latest one to reach my reading queue. There is no recap so I actually went back and read my review of the last issue for some idea what is going on this comic book series. There are twenty-two pages of comic book content within ALL-NEW FIREFLY #5. The cost of this comic book was $4.99.

There will be spoilers in my review of the ALL-NEW FIREFLY #5 comic book. Jayne is dealing with the revelation that he is a father. At least biologically speaking. Jayne does not really believe it in ALL-NEW FIREFLY #5 though. He finds out that there was genetic test done and it is supposed to say that he is the father of Owen. Where is the mother? ALL-NEW FIREFLY #5 lets us know that Owen has no idea. He was raised in a group home.

The brother of Jayne is sick and lays a guilt trip on his brother. Their mother is dead and this brother is most likely not far behind. Jayne has no clue how to be a father. His son wants this hat that Jayne's mom made for him. He is not giving it to his son though. Plenty of fathers know the sacrifices we make for our kids and even for our wives. Many times we men are the last ones to be taken care of.

The credits can be found on the back of the front cover within ALL-NEW FIREFLY #5. To me ALL-NEW FIREFLY #5 feels like a transitionary issue. I am not thrilled about the ending in ALL-NEW FIREFLY #5. It feels a bit weak, and repetitive. I also did not realize the crew of the Serenity is considered to be outlaws. It is still weird to see Mel reporting to the captain in ALL-NEW FIREFLY #5.

The issues families can have with ALL-NEW FIREFLY #5 are violence, blood, language, and more. The beginning of ALL-NEW FIREFLY #5 shows us a story from the past. The coloring done there reminds me of Gameboy video games. That is not a good thing either. Like a pretty bad thing. The priests get attacked again in ALL-NEW FIREFLY #5. So it looks like the crew will be heading back to that planet for another job.
