Angels Sing
SCORE: 90
Another one of the Christmas movies I purchased during Black Friday
2023 was Angels Sing. Yolanda picked it for one of our movie nights
recently. I hoped Angels Sing would be decent. Angels Sing was released
in 2012. Harry Connick Jr, Connie Britton, Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson,
and Kris Kristofferson star in Angels Sing. There will be spoilers in
this review of Angels Sing.
Michael Walker is a professor at a local college. He is not fond of
Christmas because his brother died around that time of year when he was
a kid. By the way he was skating toward thin ice, his brother saved his
life, and went down into the freezing water. Michael also is looking for
a house with his wife and son. They are about to be forced out of their
house they were renting. The problem is the houses cost too much for
them.
Michael is riding his bike in the woods when he crashes to avoid hitting
a reindeer. As he walks his broken bike back home he comes across a
house being sold by the owner. It is a huge house that Michael feels is
way out of his price range. He decides to check it out and the owner
Nick is willing to sell to Michael for what he can afford. There is one
catch. He cannot paint the house pink and keep up with the neighbors.
Michael jumps on the opportunity to buy this house. Little does he know
what it means to not paint the house pink. He cannot make the house
stand out. Why is that such a big deal? This street and house are world
famous for Christmas decorations. Remember Michael hates Christmas. His
dad dies in a car accident and his son David blames himself. Angels Sing
teaches viewers that the memories families make are what is actually
important.
Michael finally comes around to decorating the house and making it the
jewel of the neighborhood again. He helps his son embrace and enjoy
Christmas again. There is some language issues, and death in Angels
Sing. Otherwise Angels Sing is generally pretty clean. Willie Nelson's
character seems more like an angel at times in Angels Sing. With so many
musicians I expected better songs honestly. There is some humor in
Angels Sing.
